Sustainable firewood, ready to burn

Firewood Prep

Ready to burn Bathurst Estate logoWhilst we replenish firewood stocks ready for the new season, we are currently only able to supply our 2m3 part seasoned logs. We hope to resume delivery of seasoned logs in early September.

Unfortunately, due to increased processing and delivery costs we have taken the difficult decision to increase our log prices. We still strive to offer the cheapest ‘Ready to Burn’ accredited logs in the local area. The new prices will be confirmed in August, when you are then able to book seasoned log deliveries for September and beyond.

The Bathurst Estate produces excellent quality hardwood firewood from its sustainably managed woodlands; the firewood is naturally seasoned to below 20% moisture content ensuring its efficiency, and is certified 'Ready to Burn'. Most of the trees removed from the woodlands are diseased or dying due to Ash Dieback. These are replaced by mixed native broadleaf ensuring the woodland continues to regenerate.

We aim to offer the best value to our customers, and remain one of the cheapest suppliers of top quality, naturally seasoned Ready to Burn logs in Cirencester and its surrounds.

When the Ready to Burn logs are out of stock, we will advise you of alternative prices for part-seasoned loads.

Storing firewood

Follow these handy tips for stacking your firewood logs for better burning.

  • Logs should be stored as soon as they are delivered in a dry and well-ventilated store and not directly onto bare ground.
  • Stacking your firewood logs on a pallet or ground sheet prevents moisture being drawn up through the ground.
  • Stack individually rather than in a pile to ensure good airflow through and around the stack.
  • If possible, keep access to two sides of larger stores so that drier logs can be used first.
  • If a dry store is not available and logs are stacked in the open, cover the top only. Completely covering the logs may increase moisture content which may reverse the effects of seasoning.
  • Make sure that the logs stacks are not too high to reduce the risks of collapse.
