Discover The Old Kennels at Cirencester Park

The Old Kennels is the perfect place to start your exploration of Cirencester Park. Whether you fancy a locally sourced, seasonal meal at Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden Restaurant while the children play or prefer to browse the courtyard shops before enjoying an award-winning ale or simply wish to picnic in the arboretum, we look forward to welcoming you.

In the 1840s, the 4th Earl Bathurst made improvements to Cirencester Park including the addition of a range of kennels and cottages. Originally built to house hounds and horses up until 1963, the Grade II listed limestone buildings and outbuildings have been used for liveries, as a mechanic’s workshop, offices and residential housing.

The Old Kennels is dog friendly; the perfect spot to bring your family and four-legged friends before heading into Cirencester Park for a walk.

The Old Kennels and The Jubilee Arboretum are open daily from 8am to 5pm, free of charge.

A new era at The Old Kennels, Cirencester Park

Alive with things to see and do

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

In 2023, The Old Kennels started an exciting new chapter with the opening of Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden offering delicious food and drinks daily. The courtyards are home to shops and visitor facilities; this includes an impressive kitchen garden, a nature-inspired play area, a bike park and a Dog Wash. A hive of activity and pop up events, the Courtyards are also home to  artisan leather work at Cirencester Saddlers, an atmospheric and popular tap room at Corinium Ales and Cattivo Pizza.

JUBILEE COMMUNITY ARBORETUM

For those wanting to enjoy the landscape, there is the picnic area in the Jubilee Community Arboretum planted with the support of local businesses and Cirencester residents, as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. Alongside runs a cherry blossom avenue, planted to mark the Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth II; this leads to Cirencester Park Caravan and Motorhome Club.

CIRENCESTER PARK

Cirencester Park is easily accessed on foot from The Old Kennels; from the Courtyards, you can follow the footpaths leading to the attractive lime-tree avenue of Windsor Walk. Many of the routes within Cirencester Park are accesible with pushchairs and wheelchairs. Windsor Walk offers iconic views of The Mansion with the parish church of Cirencester in the background, as well as the Queen Anne Monument and the Hexagon. Windsor Walk leads to the Broad Avenue and directly to Cirencester's town centre.

VENUE HIRE

As well as a host of family-friendly activities run by Roots+Seeds Experiences and fun evenings at Corinium Ales, the Courtyards and surrounding arboretum and grass paddocks are available to create your perfect private event. Catered events are run in collaboration with Roots+Seeds Kitchen Garden.
