A new visitor has arrived at Cirencester Park who is more used to the sunshine than winter in the Cotswolds! The 3-metre-long camel is on loan to the Park by Oxfordshire-based artist Hamish Mackie, and is one of four of his sculptures that can be seen within the Park.
Hamish Mackie is renowned for bringing sculptures to life through detailed observation of his subjects in their natural habitats. For this sculpture, Hamish spent a period of time in the UAE and his understanding of the camel’s anatomy is particularly evident by the textural quality of the piece.
