A brand-new woodland attraction is set to delight visitors of all ages as a Ball Run opens in Cirencester Park on Saturday 23rd May.
Nestled in the picturesque woodland close to the historic Hexagon Folly, the Woodland Ball Run is a playful and interactive installation designed for everyone from ages 3 to 103. Visitors are invited to roll large wooden balls, resembling giant marbles, through an engaging sequence of handcrafted wooden tracks, offering a fun outdoor experience for families and park visitors to explore.
Of the Woodland Ball Run, Lord Apsley says:
‘We are delighted to be opening the new Ball Run at Cirencester Park; creating a fun and playful experience for visitors of all ages. It is a wonderful way for children and families to enjoy the woodland together. Built from larch wood sourced from the Estate and constructed by talented local craftsmen, it is something we’re very proud of and we hope it will bring plenty of smiles, laughter and memorable moments to everyone who visits.’
The structure was brought to life by skilled local craftsmen Tom Purdy and Nick Salter of Stroud, who are well-known for their creative woodland installations. Visitors may already recognise their craftsmanship from the much-loved Woodland Fairy Trail, where they created the charming fairy doors hidden throughout the same woodland area.
Tom says:
‘’The Woodland Ball Run is all about simple, outdoor fun. It’s been designed to spark curiosity, get children moving and give families a reason to spend time together in this beautiful setting. We’re delighted to see it open and can’t wait for people to enjoy it.”
Adding to the experience, the beautifully crafted wooden balls themselves have been made in England and are available to purchase for £6 each. These can be bought from the Ticket Offices at Windsor Walk and Cecily Hill, allowing visitors to take part in the Ball Run and enjoy repeated use throughout their visit and on subsequent trips to Cirencester Park.
The Ball Run will be open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm, offering plenty of opportunity for visitors to explore the woodland and enjoy this new attraction.
